Dido & Aeneas

Based on the love story from Virgil's Aeneid, this English baroque tragic masterpiece features magnificent music, potent drama, and remarkable intensity. Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre provided dancers for this wonderful production.

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented its annual full-length story ballet, “Alice! A Ballet Wonderland.” Adapted from Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass”, and inspired by Tim Burton’s avant garde interpretation of “Alice”. “Alice! A Ballet Wonderland” combines a mélange of music by Tchaikovsky and original costume designs by Martha Penaranda.


Beer & Ballet

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented a very special evening performance, complete with a mixed bill of beautiful ballet performance and tasty craft beers. Among other wonderful treats, guests were treated to delicious appetizers, a candy bar and silent auction items.



Dvorak Festival

Music and dance came together to express some of Dvorak's most beautiful songs. "Tone Pictures," presented by Opera Piccola of San Antonio and Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre and was a part of the San Antonio Symphony's Dvorak Festival.

Gypsy Love

#13 2013, Gypsy Love

Opera Piccola of San Antonio and Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre performed a vocal/dance program titled Gypsy Love, featuring Johannes Brahms vocal masterpieces Zigeunerlieder and NeueLiebeslieder Waltzes, as part of the San Antonio Symphony's Brahms Festival. The performance was held at the Thiry Auditorium, on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake University.

Ballet Night

#11 2011, Ballet Night

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented Ballet Night at the Dominion San Antonio. Held at a beautiful outdoor theater built on the Dominion golf course specifically for AABT, excerpts from the Swan Lake among other ballets were performed and a silent auction was held with all proceeds benefitting the ballet company.


Spring Mix

#10 2011, Spring Mix

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre’s spring 2011 performance was a mix of perennial ballet favorites and freshly choreographed varieties, including ballet in Spanish style to classical guitar, character dances from Uzbekistan and Moldavia, and an original performance to the music of the motion picture “Avatar.”


Ballet Cabaret

#9 2010, Ballet Cabaret

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented Ballet Cabaret in the Fall of 2010. The performance included Pas de Quatre from the mid 1800’s; Shostakovich’s rarely heard Jazz Suite, from 1938, music by composer Leroy Anderson as well as choreography to music from the World War II era. The program included movie music ranging from Charlie Chaplain films, to Avatar. In addition, there were guest artists from Angel Santiago’s ballroom company who performed cutting edge tango pieces.


Ballet Geographic

#8 2010, Ballet Geographic

During the spring of 2010, Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre presented Ballet Geographic. A collaborative performance of ballet and other dance forms inspired by music from around the world, this performance included culturally diverse musical selections and beautiful ballet to match.


America

#7 2009, America, America the Beautiful

Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre joined Kerrville area non-profit organization, Art2Heart, in its presentation of America, America the Beautiful. This lively performance featured a patriotic theme and served as a tribute to our great nation. Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre was joined on stage by Art2Heart staff and youth.

#6 2009, Choreographic Collections

Choreographic Collections featured an eclectic mix of movement and music; reviving several past fan favorite pieces and introducing a few new productions made this performance a success.

#5 2008, The Beat of America

The Beat of America featured a patriotic theme and included collaboration with Houston Ballet’s Lauren Anderson. This performance included choreography depicting a couple separated by war, a tutu filled salute to those serving our country, and several classical ballet excerpts.


Fiesta

#4 2008, Viva Fiesta; The Passion of Dance

Viva Fiesta; The Passion of Dance consisted of a collaboration between AABT , the San Antonio Jazz Ensemble and Los Espanoles. Presented during this performance was original choreography by AABT Artisitc Director Julie Morton-Simpson, modern choreography by Britta Moe and Rhonda McClure and flamenco choreography by Josie Champion-Garcia.

#3 2007, Fire & Ice

Fire & Ice consisted of collaboration between San Antonio Dance Academy flamenco dancers and Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre. The performance also featured a cameo appearance by award winning jazz pianist/singer/songwriter, Bett Butler. AABT contributed original ballet choreography by Julie Morton-Simpson, youth performance choreography by Judith Gani, and modern choreography by Meghan Oswald.



Spring Performance

#2 2006, Spring Performance

The Spring Performance marked the second successful production for Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre. By special arrangement with the Balanchine Trust, The Company featured New York City Ballet ballerina Michele Gifford in Balanchine's "Rubies pas de deux from Jewels.", Chung-Lin Tseng, Artistic Director of Ballet Center of Fort Worth, and original choreography by AABT Artistic Director, Julie Morton-Simpson-Excerpts from Carmen and Forever Pirates.



An evening

#1 2006, An Evening of Music and Original Choreography

During this wonderful production, Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre collaborated with violinist, Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio and pianist Kristin Roach in Stravinsky's "Suite Italienne," and rock guitarist Jon Schmidt and drummer David Haddad in "A Little Bit of Zeppelin.". This performance marked the inaugural production of Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre.
